Katrina Kaif is an English actress. She mostly works in Hindi films. She was born in Hong Kong. Her current residence is in Mumbai, India. She also still has British citizenship. Her date of birth is 16 July 1983. Her current age is 36 years. She is one of the highest-paid India actresses.
Kaif & her family lived in several countries before she moved to London. Her father’s name is Mohammad Kaif. Her father is an English businessman of Kashmiri descent. Her mother’s name is Suzanne. She is an English lawyer and a charity worker. She has seven siblings. She has three elder sisters named Stephanie, Christine, and Natasha. She also has three younger sisters named Melissa, Sonia and Isabel. She has an elder brother, Michael. Her sister Isabelle Kaif is also a model and actress. Her parents divorced when she was a child. After divorced her father was moved to the United States. She & her siblings were raised by their mother.
Due to their frequent location, Kaif and her siblings were home-schooled by a series of tutors. She also lived in London in her childhood for three years. Kaif’s paternal parentage has been questioned by some members of the Film Industry. Since her childhood, she did a lot of traveling through different continents as after her birth in Hong Kong her family moved to China, Japan, France, Switzerland, Poland, Belgium, and other European countries. She struggled in Bollywood at the beginning but got a breakthrough with the film Namanstey London opposite Akshay Kumar in 2007.
She did not attend any school and taught at home by her mother due to frequent relocation. She also did some correspondence courses. She has also been appearing at London Fashion Week. At one of her fashion shows, she was noticed by filmmaker Kaizad Gustad who cast her in his film Boom in 2003 which is her Bollywood debut, but the film failed at the box office. It was reported that the film failed due to her poor command of Hindi. After that, she worked hard to learn Hindi and played lead roles in numerous hit films like Namastey London (2007), Welcome (2007), Singh Is King (2008), Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), Bodyguard (2011), etc. Apart from Bollywood, she worked in some Telugu and Malayalam films like Malliswari (2004), Allari Pidugu (2005), and Balram vs. Tharadas (2006).
She also released a music album Rhyme Skool to raise funds for a new school in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
She also appeared in Kabir Khan’s terrorism drama New York in 2009. Kaif played Maya, a college student who later marries a terrorist.
In 2010, She appeared in Prakash Jha’s political thriller Raajneeti as part of an ensemble cast which included Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpai, and Sarah Thompson. The film took inspiration from The Mahabharta and Mario Puzo’s 1969 novel The Godfather. The film received mainly positive reviews from critics. The film was successful at the box office, receiving a total collection of 1.4 billion.
In the following year, she appeared with Akshay Kumar for the sixth time in comedy Tees Maar Khan. The film was also successful at the box office.
In 2011, She appeared in Yash Raj Films romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with Imran Khan and Ali Zafar. The film received mixed reviews.
Kaif is involved with Relief Projects India, a charitable trust run by her mother which rescues abandoned baby girls and works to prevent female infanticide. Kaif’s winnings from the game show 10 Ka Dum and Kaun Banega Crorepati were donated to her mother’s Mercy Home orphanage.
In 2010, She also walked the ramp for charity as part of Salman Khan’s “Being Human” show. To raise funds for a new school in Madurai she recorded Rhyme Skool, an album fo nursery rhymes composed by A. R. Rahman.
Kaif has also performed onstage, participating in Shah Rukh Khan’s “Temptations Reloaded” world concert tour in 2018.
Katrina Kaif’s personal life has also been a source of attention on media. She rumors of a relationship with Salman Khan first emerged in 2003, it was not until after their 2010 breakup. Kaif says for that relationship that was her first serious relationship. They have remained friends and the actress credits Khan with giving her confidence and guidance.
The reason for their breakup was Kaif’s increasing closeness to Ranbir Kapoor during the filming of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
